This is basically a script for anyone out there who has an Amiga, an ethernet card, cable modem service, and the
unfortunate chance that you live in Road Runner (Time Warner Cable) territory.
You see, unlike any other cable company in the world who does cable modem and does it logically,
Time Warner feels that its Road Runner service should have a goofy, proprietary, use-this-or-nothing-at-all
front end for authentification. And lets take a guess at what this front end runs on .. and all it runs on...
Can you say WinBlowze?
Anyways, my bud from an IRC channel that uses an Amiga found a script / exe and converted it to use on an Amiga
just for me. Either that or I wouldn't shut up. Take your pick.
Basically, you need to edit the rrlmsd.conf file to suit YOU. As in, your username, password, and server if the one
provided fails to work.
Then, make sure Miami(DX) is configured to use your cable modem. This is pretty self explanatory and even
my idiotic ass figured this out on my own.
Finally, make an assign for this little wonder, called rr: (obviously, everything in this archive should
be held in said assign location). Helps if its in s:user-startup so its always there.
Now, connect Miami to your cable modem connect. Afeter Miami(DX) confirms you are online via your cable connection,
type this in a shell window:
cd rr:
run <>NIL: rrlmsd
Most likely, a miami log window will pop up and say its configuring. Do keep this window open, as it helps
to see exactly what is going on at all times, and also (obviously) if your authentification failed.
Thats about it. I didn't write it, and the only way I know of to stop it is to close Miami. I could be wrong.
I am wrong quite a bit.
Anywayz .. thats my experience with it. I run:
A3000
Cyberstorm Mark III 68060
64 megs RAM on said 060 card
GVP Spectrum
Villagetronice Ariadne II ethernet card
Road Runner cable modem
